UUG – Universal Geocoding Service from GUGiK

The Universal Geocoding Service is a service provided by GUGiK for geocoding addresses in Poland.

Advantages:

  1. free of charge, with no limitations
  2. fast

Disadvantages:

  1. not resistant to typos
  2. It is necessary to provide the address in a specific format.

The address search service, based on the GUGiK API
http://services.gugik.gov.pl/uug/opis.html may take four forms:

  • Locality, Street, Building Number

  • Locality Building Number

  • Locality, Street

  • Locality

Therefore, according to this format, it is not possible to search using only the street name. The best results are achieved by following the convention: Miejscowość, ulica numer
