Your layers in the cloud.
Your team in QGIS. For free.
Upload your data, invite colleagues, and work together on the same layers - no file sending, no server setup, no IT needed. Get started in 5 minutes.
Three steps and you have a cloud for your QGIS.
- Download the plugin (Usemaps Lite or GIS Support Plugin) from the QGIS plugin repository. Register by providing your email and organization name. It takes less than 5 minutes. Instructions are available in the video.
- Upload your layers and invite your colleagues From that moment, the entire team has access to the same data directly in their QGIS – no file sending, no setup, no asking about the latest version.
- Work together in real time. Every change in a layer syncs automatically for all team members. Notifications show who modified what – you have full control over what happens with the data.
Three things that will change immediately after installation.
No setup, no IT, no trial period. Install the plugin, and from that moment, team work with data looks completely different.
No more sending files by email
Everyone who uses QGIS knows this ritual: you export a layer, pack it into a ZIP, send it by email, and wait to see if your colleague opens the correct version.
Usemaps Lite puts an end to this once and for all. You upload a layer to the cloud once - and from that moment, the entire team has access to it directly in QGIS. No one asks “send me the latest version” anymore - because the latest version is always exactly where it should be.
No more being the bottleneck
When spatial data is only on your computer, every update goes through you. A colleague needs a new layer - they message You.
This is not a problem of poor organization - it is a problem of a tool that was not designed for collaboration. Usemaps Lite allows team members to load layers into their own QGIS and see changes instantly, without you acting as a middleman for every small request.
Finally, you all work on the same data
In GIS projects, the most common problem is not a lack of data - it’s too many versions of it. Everyone has their own copy, each one is slightly different, and no one is sure which one is current.
Usemaps Lite replaces this chaos with a single, shared layer in the cloud. Every change is saved for everyone at the same time. There is no more “you have an old version from me” - there is one layer, always up to date, available to the entire team directly in QGIS.
Usemaps Lite works great. But it has its limits - and it’s worth knowing them.
Usemaps Lite is 5% of the full platform’s capabilities. That is enough to get started and to see what working with spatial data in the cloud looks like.
When you feel you need more - there’s Usemaps.
Everyone on the team sees everything.
Usemaps Lite has a single access level – you’re in the organization and see all layers. When the team grows and different departments, projects, and external partners appear, the lack of granular permissions becomes a problem.
Full access control for every layer.
In Usemaps, you decide who can view, edit, or only download – at the level of each layer, project, and user. External partners see only what they should. Management has their view. Specialists have theirs.
If someone doesn’t have QGIS, they have no access to the data.
Usemaps Lite works exclusively through the QGIS plugin. Project managers, lawyers, and management – if they don’t have QGIS installed – are cut off from the data. Installing QGIS for everyone in the company is not a practical solution.
A browser is enough. For everyone.
Usemaps works in a browser – no installation, no plugin, no GIS knowledge required. The whole team sees up-to-date data on the map, adds tasks and documents. You work in QGIS. The rest of the company works in the browser. All on the same data.
Your data is in QGIS. Management doesn’t have QGIS. You communicate through PDFs.
When someone from management asks about a project’s status, you export the map to a PDF, send it by email, and explain what can be seen. The PDF is outdated before it even reaches their inbox. The next day, the question comes back.
Full access control for every layer.
Usemaps gives management and managers their own view in a browser – up-to-date, interactive, without your mediation. They click on an object and see its status, history, and documents. You stop being the translator between data and decision-makers.

Usemaps Lite – Frequently Asked Questions:
Is it possible to add an attribute to a layer in Usemaps Lite?
No. To edit the attribute structure, save the layer, for example, as a GeoPackage, modify the attribute structure, and reload it into Usemaps Lite. Changing the attribute structure is possible in the full version of Usemaps.
Can I restrict editing permissions for my collaborators?
No. Everyone has the same permissions (editing data, uploading layers, inviting and removing collaborators). Full access control is available in the full version of Usemaps.
Where is the data stored?
The data is stored on the Usemaps Lite server, which is managed by GIS Support Ltd.
