Single symbolization displays all objects in the same way. For example, all address points are shown as red dots with a size of 6. <\/p>\n

Unique Symbolization<\/h2>\n

Unique Symbolization assigns the style of individual objects in a layer based on a specific attribute value.<\/p>\n

Example:<\/h3>\n

We have power lines that have a text (dictionary) attribute: overhead or underground.<\/p>\n

Using unique symbolization, we can display:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. all underground lines as solid lines<\/li>\n
  2. all overhead lines as dashed lines<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Graduated Symbolization<\/h2>\n

    Graduated symbolization assigns the style of each object in a layer based on the value of a numeric attribute.<\/p>\n

    Using graduated symbolization, it is possible to define the number of classes and the ranges of attribute values that assign an object to a specific class. A separate style can be applied to each class. <\/p>\n

    <\/a><\/p>\n

    Example:<\/h3>\n

    We have a vector layer with municipalities, and in the attribute \u201cpopulation,\u201d we have the number of people living in each municipality.<\/p>\n

    We want to display it as follows:<\/p>\n

    1. Municipalities with a population above 500,000 \u2013 in red <\/li>\n
    2. Municipalities with a population from 50,000 to 500,000 \u2013 in yellow<\/li>\n
    3. Municipalities with a population from 1 to 50,000 \u2013 in green<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Here is an example of graduated symbolization \u2013 building permits for apartments by counties.<\/p>\n
